White Perch Rods and Reels
Vertical Divider
The rod and reel combo we have discovered for the kids of KEPTI is the Penn Wrath Combo it is a good combo with a great price point and it is a good combo for White perch, schoolie striped bass and can also be used on the fresh water lakes for most fish at the lake. Sensitive tip yet tough.

Dad and mom use the Fenwick HMX Spinning Combo for light action fishing. Great for White perch fishing and for inshore fishing. Very good rod for under $100.
The reel used is the Tsunami Barrier 3000 for $50 you can't go wrong the reel has a good drag system and 7 seals for fishing the sod banks. |

For the past few years we have gone surf fishing about 6-8 times and have been very inconsistent with our catches. We have caught striped bass, flounder, blue fish, dog fish all off the surf. When we go as a family we have fun on the sand as we fish. The right rod and reel combo is very important to get your plug or bait out into to the surf to have a decent chance of catching some fish. We mainly use Tsunami rods with a combination of Penn or Tsunami Reels A rod 7ft and above is recommended, for our youngest angler we use a Tsunami Trophy 7ft surf rod and for Pedro and Mom each use we use The Tsunami 9ft Airwave surf rod. Dad uses a 10 ft 6 surf rod his got to its the Tsunami Airwave Elite Rod.
Pier Rod and Reels
Pier Fishing is at the heart of our fishing, since we mainly fish off land the pier allows us to go out and fish deeper water you would normally need a boat or kayak. A Pier is a place where you can interact with others and spend time with your family while catching a vast array of fish. Your rod and reel will get a bit beet up on the pier so you need a tough rod and reel that has the back bone and drag to bring fish up from the water. A Pier net is also recommended to bring up the bigger fish. Over the past we have used with success many different rod and reel combos. The ones we are suggesting, are our go to combos that have provided KEPTI Fishing with the most success.

Great all around rod for the pier, you can catch all different kinds of fish. We recommend switching out the reel with a saltwater such as the Penn Pursuit III. But still the combo is good enough fro anyone that want to get started with pier fishing.

This combo of rod and reel is a bit pricier but this past year Keith from KEPTI Fishing has had a tremendous amount of success using this rod and reel. Together the rod and reel come in at about $200 but you can't go wrong with this combo a strong but light rod and reel that is sealed (keep water from the gears) it is a great combo to have on the pier to bring all fish big and small.

BOAT RODS
When you go on a boat the boat or charter boat will give you the option of using the rod and reels provided by the boat. We take our own equipment mainly because we are comfortable with the rod and reels we own. If you are going out on a charter boat or party boat you need to first know the type of fishing that will be done. The rods that will be in this section are rods for bottom fishing and jigging for fish that are located mainly on the bottom over some wrecks where fish gather. Make sure you discuss with the captain what you will, need to bring. We suggest fishing pliers, fishing grips , a fish dehooker, leader line, and fishing weights a cooler to hold your catch and rags to clean your hands.
The Tsunami slow pitch series is a great in either spinning or conventional rod. They are lightweight and are strong, workhorses when it comes to bottom fishing and jigging. They are very affordable at under $100 and you get a great bang for your buck.

When it comes to conventional reels Pedro is very knowledgable because he uses this type the most in the KEPTi Fishing family. The Tsunami Reel handles the big fish and can aid you on bring up your prized fish. With a strong level drag and the ability to hold plenty of line for your fishing trip.
